Slaves listed in the Prayerbook of William Boyce

of Surry County, Virginia,

last known in the possession of

Blanks Moody of Bacon’s Castle, Virginia, about 1961:

Tillar, Dolly’s son was born 28 June 1814

Louisa, Dolly’s daughter was born 18 January 1806

Mariah, Dolly’s daughter was born 23 January 1808

Augustine, Dolly’s son was born 6 December 1811

Albert, Hannah’s son was born 15 June 1809

Henry Peter, Hannah’s son was born 8 September 1810

All were born in Surry County Virginia.

The dates are interesting as William Boyce left Virginia in 1811 and moved to Kentucky. It is possible that the Prayer Book was given to his daughter Patsey (Martha) who married Blanks Moody (d. 1 Dec. 1823), for these were copied [by me, Shelley B. Joel Watson, about 1961] from the Prayerbook when in the possession of Blanks Moody, son of James William Moody, son of Blanks Moody who was the husband of Martha Boyce, daughter of William.
